711034: Stone Soup Stone Soup
By Marcia Brown / Simon & Schuster Trade Sales

First published in 1947, this picture book classic has remained one of Marcia Brown's most popular and enduring books. This story, about three hungry soldiers who outwit the greedy inhabitants of a village into providing them with a feast, is based on an old French tale. Recommended for ages 4 to 8. A 1948 Caldecott Honor book.
This page is full of resources you can use to
make your
Stone Soup Lapbook.  I've
included some custom Stone Soup minibooks
that I've made, along with numerous links to
useful resources on the web.  This lapbook is
geared towards Pre-K and early elementary
children, but if you have older children you
could use the resources as a starting point on
what to include in your lapbook.
  • Why did the soldiers stop in the
    village?
  • How come the people said they
    didn't have any food?
  • What kind of soup was made?
  • What sort of trick was played?
Stone Soup Lapbook Video

Here is the video for the lapbook Stone
Soup.  We used the classic copy of the
book by Marcia Brown, but there are many
other copies that this lapbook would work
will.  However you might need to alter or
add a few things.  This is just a suggestion
on a way to put it together, you can let your
children put them together however they
like!
