This page is full of resources you can use to make your Penguin Lapbook. I've included some custom Penguin minibooks that I've made, along with numerous links to useful resources on the web. This lapbook is geared towards Pre-K and early elementary children, but if you have older children you could use the resources as a starting point on what to include in your lapbook.
Penguin Lapbook Video Here is a video depicting how you can make your own Penguin Lapbook. We didn't study a specific species of penguin, but learned a little bit about a few of the more distinctive ones. This was done when my daughter was in KG4, 4 year old kindergarten, and the level reflects Pre-k to KG5 I would imagine.

Draw Write Now, Book 4: The Polar Regions, The Arctic, The
Antarctic By Marie Hablitzel / Barker Creek Explore the world with, Draw Write Now, a collection of drawing and handwriting lessons developed by an elementary school teacher and tested by over 800 children. The contents include: Colorful easy to follow drawing lessons. Text for practicing handwriting. Theme related questions, answers and book lists. A child friendly format. And countless ideas to spark children's imagination and creativity! |
We use the Draw, Write Now series to work on art and handwriting skills. This was the picture Sissy drew from that book, she learned how to draw Penguings and made this cute drawing.

We checked out a few penguin books for this lapbook, but mostly we got a ton of information from the movie "March of the Penguins" Both of my children loved watching this, and you can usually rent it from the video store. You can also check YouTube for parts of the movie. We also Loved "Tacky the Penguin" by Helen Lester It's a great story about the qualities of being yourself!
