Mosquito Bite By Alexandra Siy & Dennis Kunkel / Charlesbridge Publishing As children play hide-and-seek on a hot summer night, a mosquito, Culex, hides and seeks as well. She must find food--blood--to nourish the eggs in her body. Black-and-white photos relate the children's hide-and-seek story line, while astonishing colorized photographs taken with an electron microscope give close-up views of Culexand her world. Recommended for ages 7 and up. |

This page is full of Free Resources you can use for making your Mosquito Lapbook. I've also included custom Minibooks that we made for our Mosquito Lapbook. For our Mosquito Lapbook we wanted to learn a few different things about butterflies. You can come up with your own objectives for the study, but here are a couple of ideas....
Mosquito Label Worksheet This is a worksheet for children who are ready to work on handwriting skills to label the different body parts of a butterfly. For younger children, write the different parts on a strip of paper and help them match them to the right spot.
Life Cycle of a Mosquito This is a printable wheel for the Life Cycle of a Butterfly. Older children can draw the pictures on the wheel, and write the life cycle stage on the wedge, and younger children can color and glue the provided pictures in the right spot to make the wheel.
Stop the Itch! This is a little minibook where children can write down different techniques for stopping the itch from a mosquito bite. On the bottom is the Bible Verse from Luke 22:20. Talk with children how Jesus, when he died on the cross, he shed his blood in a new covenant so that we may be forgiven from our sins.

Mosquito Lapbook Cover This is a printable cover page for your Mosquito Lapbook. it shows three silly yet determined mosquito's getting ready to find something to eat. Have your child write their name above.

Mosquito Mask We made these adorable Mosquito Masks for a Mosquito Craft. I cut out the face shapes from a paper plate, making holes for the eyes and mouth. The children used water colors to paint them (taking guide from the colorful pictures in the above Mosquito books) and we taped a flexi-straw into the mouthpart. We used pipe cleaners for the antenaes and then of course I just couldn't resist and we brought out some "Blood" (aka: Fruit Punch) for them to slurp up with their Mosquito Masks! This photos going into the scrapbook for sure!
