Hiragana Flashcards
While learning about Japan, we started to learn the
basic Hiragana alphabet.    Print on cardstock and
fold in half, and glue shut.  Or instead of gluing you
can write different Japanese vocabulary inside.

Japan Lapbook Title Page
This is a colorful title page you can use for your Japan
Lapbook.  There are pictures of the Flag, Sushi, the
Country, Mt. Fuji, and some Flower Arrangements.

Japan Lapbook Resources on our Sister Sites
This is a Lapbook all about Japan!  We're learning
more and more about Japan as well as some basic
Japanese along the way.  This page is a work in
progress, and will be updated through out the year
as we learn more!  We're also blogging all about
the crafts and activities we do along the way on our
Homeschool Blog, so if your interested you can find
more ideas there too!  Here's what we hope to
learn by the end of our studies:

    that Japan produces?

Hiragana Notebooking Page
This is a printable notebooking  title page for children who
are able to practice handwriting skills.  We printed up
free
Hiragana worksheets from this website, and keep them in
a three ring spiral binder.  You can incorporate them into
your labpook by using a three-prong folder, or brads.  You
can also print a
Hiragana / Katakana workbook from here.

Let's Learn Japanese Picture Dictionary

This is the perfect dictionary for my children.  There are full color
illustrations alongside the Hiragana and Romaji of each item.  This
dictionary will last quite a while as it includes many different topics:

Sumi-e  Japanese Brush Painting Kit

I purchased this kit a while back, even before my little kiddos were around!
 It comes with black and red ink, an inkwell, brushes, rice paper and an
instruction book.  This is wonderful if you will be painting right alongside
you're children (I love activities that the whole family can do together).

Kimono Coloring
This is a little miniboook for children to staple together.  Let
them color and design their own Kimonos!
Japan Lapbook Decorations
Use these adorable Japanese cartoon characters to
decorate your lapbook!  Or even better, print them on
sticker paper for children to have some sticker fun!

If you have younger children, consider
purchasing just a brush, and letting
them practice strokes with water and
paper towels.  It's a good way for them
to get used to the "Less is more"
techniques!

Let your children look at all the amazing photos of
Japanese Obento for inspiration, then let them design
their own.  Or if you're really energetic, spend an afternoon

Japanese Fan Craft
Print up these fun fan shapes on Heavy Cardstock paper.  
Cut out, let children paint and then attach a Popsicle stick
at the bottom to make a fan.

Japanese File Folder Games
These free file folder games are wonderful for reinforcing
key skills.  Krafty Koi is a game for children who are
learning about number values, what is bigger and what is
smaller.  You can customize our games depending our
your children's age and ability level.
Colors of Japan
These flaps have the Romaji version of different colors in
Japanese.  Children read the words on the outside of the
flap, then write the English word or draw with the
corresponding color on the inside of the flap.
Dollars & Yen Wallet
This is a foldable "Wallet" for children to store information
about the difference between currency.  You can print up
some Japanese Money to store in the wallet pocket by
doing a google image search online.
Geography of Japan
Older Children who learn about the geography of Japan
can use this hexagon shaped book to store facts.  
Children can write about the climate, the oceans, volcanos
and more from what they learn.

Children can color in these flying carp after learning all
about the Children's Day traditional holiday in Japan.
