Butterfly Label Worksheet
This is a worksheet for
children who are ready to work
on handwriting skills to label
the different body parts of a
butterfly.  For younger children,
write the different parts on a
strip of paper and help them
match them to the right spot.
This page is full of Free Resources you can use for
making your
Butterfly Lapbook.  I've also included
custom Minibooks that we made for our Butterfly
Lapbook. For our Butterfly Lapbook we wanted to
learn a few different things about butterflies.  You
can come up with your own objectives for the study,
but here are a couple of ideas....
  • Where do Butterflies live
  • What are the different kinds of
    Butterflies
  • What is nectar
  • How does a Butterfly smell?  How
    does it taste?
We read a lot of Butterfly books for our Butterfly Lapbook.  Some of our favorites were
Bob & Otto (my son absolutly adored this book) it's about a worm and a caterpillar,
their friendship and the changes that occur as they grow.

We also liked The Very Hungry Caterpillar, we actually did a lapbook for that last year,
so it was nice to return to it again.

Coffee Filter Butterflies

We got the idea for our Butterfly Craft from our Sister Site www.PreschoolPost.com.
You can print an entire lesson plan on butterflies from there as well as some great
printable resources to go along with it. Free! You basically use food coloring and coffee
filters, and let the children make bright designs on the filters.  Then with a clothespin, and
a pipe cleaner, you slide the coffee filter into the closthespin to make the wings and use
the pipe cleaner for antennae.  Add some googly eyes if you have them!

Bug Counters
Use these printable bug
counters to work on math
skills.  Use them for simple
addition, subtraction, or for
younger children use them for
counting, matching and
sorting by bug type and by
color.  For extra fun, glue them
to Popsicle sticks!
Life Cycle of a Butterfly
This is a printable wheel for
the Life Cycle of a Butterfly.
Older children can draw the
pictures on the wheel, and
write the life cycle stage on the
wedge, and  younger children
can color and glue the
provided pictures in the right
spot to make the wheel.

Butterfly Coloring Page
This is a fun little butterfly

all are in Christ.
